Lucky Dublin punter wins over €14,000 just in time for Christmas with outrageous football bet

A lucky Dublin punter is enjoying a perfectly timed boost to their Christmas budget after an incredible football flutter snatched victory from the jaws of defeat at the weekend.

The anonymous backer struck their wager on a self-service betting terminal in a BoyleSports shop in Dublin, staking €20 on an ambitious 9-team accumulator. They were prepared to wait too as the matches were spread over a whole week.

Wins for Liverpool against Bournemouth, RB Salzburg and Watford all played their part, while PSG, Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona all won their midweek Champions League matches to tee up the massive coup.

When Tottenham easily overcame a three-goal handicap by beating Burnley 5-0, it all came down to Jose Mourinho's side winning again in Sunday's clash away at Wolves.

It looked like there would be a heartbreaking end to the run, but Jan Vertonghen's header in injury time handed all three points to Tottenham and pocketed the Dubliner an astounding €14,250.35.

Lawrence Lyons, Spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “This was an absolute nail-biter and all looked lost on Sunday, but that last minute goal has made this one a Christmas to remember for our Dublin customer. Hats off to them for a stunning set of selections.”
