'Lucky dip innit' Allan McGregor in peak Rangers response to brilliant Celtic penalty save

Rangers hero Allan McGregor delivered a trademark low-key response when asked about his latest piece of goalkeeping brilliance in the Scottish Cup win over Celtic.

The 39-year-old was the toast of Ibrox once again as he produced a host of stunning saves that culminated in the brilliant penalty stop to deny Odsonne Edouard from 12 yards out.

That vital save came after another vintage afternoon as he denied the Frenchman and his Celtic team-mates on countless occasions.

But McGregor wasn't in the mood for self-praise as he played down his innate ability to continually make brilliant stops from the spot.

Speaking to Rangers TV, he said: "There's no work.

"You take a penalty, you either go left, right or down the middle.

"Lucky dip, innit?"

And he also had kind words for close pal Steven Davis after the 36-year-old midfield linchpin rolled back the years to find the back of the net with an acrobatic finish.

He added: "It was weird, we were in the physio room earlier and he was saying the last time it was raining he scored.

"The boys were saying he was going to score again today, I'm buzzing for him, it was a good finish to be fair."
