Lucky Brit claims huge life-changing £5million National Lottery jackpot

A lucky Brit is starting the weekend £5 million richer after claiming the Lottery’s Wednesday jackpot.

A single ticket scored the £5,315,349 jackpot prize from the draw earlier this week when they matched the numbers 11, 13, 15, 23, 34, 39 and the bonus ball 9.

The claim is now going through validation and checks, after which the life changing amount will arrive in the winner’s bank account.

The identity of the winner is currently unknown, and may remain that way should they choose to remain anonymous.

They are the fifth new millionaire created by the Lottery so far in 2023.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said, “We’re delighted this fantastic Lotto jackpot has been claimed, what a fabulous February this has turned out to be for this lucky ticket-holder.

“Our focus is now on supporting this jackpot ticket-holder through the process and helping them start to enjoy their truly life-changing win.

“This is the already the fifth lucky Lotto jackpot multi-millionaire created so far in 2023, after two lucky ticket-holders shared the £12M jackpot in the draw on 28 January which followed on from a very happy start to the new year for a single ticket-holder who scooped the £4M jackpot on 7 January.

“To add to these big wins, a single ticket-holder took home the £7.6M Lotto jackpot from the draw on 11 February, making it a total of over £28M in jackpot prize money won by Lotto players already this year.”

The claim is now being verified before the cash is released (PA)

Earlier this month a retired school worker found out she'd bagged £10,000 every month for a year after popping to the supermarket.

Angela Hathorn, 63, is now planning a bucket list of experiences she wants to complete with 68-year-old husband Steve, including a cruise, luxury trips to London and visits to historical and heritage sites across the UK.

The couple are still stunned after matching all five main numbers in the Set For Life draw on Monday, January 23.

Angela said she was initially worried there was a problem with her ticket when she asked for it to be checked at her local shop in Orpington, Kent.

She said: “Every Sunday I buy my Set For Life tickets for the coming week and normally get both checked at the end of the week in the shop, I never check the numbers online.

“Unusually, I went into the Co-op on the Tuesday and asked the lady to check the numbers for the Monday night draw.

"She had a puzzled look on her face as she stared at The National Lottery terminal and then she asked her colleague to take a look.”
