Lucknow University to welcome UG students tomorrow

LUCKNOW: The Lucknow University (LU) will welcome its first four-year undergraduate batch on Monday with the start of the new academic session of its13 undergraduate courses including BA, BSc and BCom in accordance with the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Along with a new job-oriented four-year syllabus, the university students will get new sports, auditorium facilities and mantra for happy thinking in the happy thinking laboratory.

“In the academic session 2021-22, LU has focused on the mental and physical health of the students as due to Covid-19 pandemic both have been badly affected. Also, as students are coming back for an on-campus class after a long time, it will be ensured that the campus is more student-friendly,” said LU spokesperson Durgesh Srivastava.

He said for new students a green turf in the Canning College is ready at the Old Campus for various sports activities. Meanwhile, over 70 years’ old Sir Maharaj Singh Gymnasium has been revamped and equipment of Rs 75 lakh has been installed. The gymnasium was last revamped in 2006 and a number of machines were outdated and worn out. The new gymnasium will offer students all facilities whether it is for maintaining fitness or special strength training for better performance in sporting activities, he added.

In the second LU campus, sports facilities like a cricket field, lawn tennis courts, open-air gym and a multipurpose sports complex with both indoor and outdoor sports facilities will be available shortly. The basketball court and gymnasium is ready, while the construction work for other facilities is underway. The equipment for open-air gym is ready and only installation has to be done. All these facilities will come up on the second campus using a Rs15 lakh government grant under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), he added.
