Lucknow University portal for getting documents online proves to be dud, students suffer

LUCKNOW: The struggle of Lucknow University students in India and abroad to get their degrees, transcripts and other academic documents is still continuing even though a specific portal, Electronic Access to Service of Examination (EASE), was launched last year specifically for the purpose.

The portal launched with much fanfare was aimed at providing documents like provisional certificate, degree, transcript, migration certificate, duplicate marksheet besides some other services.

Students who applied for documents using the portal complained that it does not work properly most of the time and when it does, their online request is not entertained and ultimately, they are told to visit the campus.

LU alumnus Adil Wahid, now working with a petroleum company in Abu Dhabi, tried to apply for his degree online several times but failed. “I need my degree for official work and had applied for it online but received no reply from the university for the last four months. When I contacted the university’s examination office directly, they asked me to visit the campus in person as my details could not be tracked,” he said.

Since the portal is not proving to be of much use, the former students are ultimately calling up the numbers available on the university website for getting degree, migration and provisional certificates required for admission, jobs and internships.

“I have applied at the University of Montreal for a PhD in chemistry for which I need my post graduation degree. I had applied for it in June and have not got it till now,” said Abhinav Singh. Many students have tweeted that the EASE portal failed to help them. The LU EASE portal was launched to submit online requests for documents, but what to do when it is not working. No one is there to help,” tweeted Neerja Mehta LU spokesperson Durgesh Srivastava said, “We are processing all online requests for documents, students need not worry. If they have applied through EASE, they will get the documents shortly.”
