LUCKNOW: Two teenagers were arrested on Saturday for attacking a girl and throwing her down the roof of her house. The accused, her 19-year-old spurned lover and his friend, had stormed into her house in Gudamba on Thursday.
Sumit Gupta (18) and Shiva Gupta (19) were arrested from Jankipuram on the basis of CCTV footage and informers.
Sub-inspector Ganesh Singh told TOI that the girl, a 17-year-old orphan, who lived with her uncle, has sustained grievous injuries on her hips and shoulder.
Shiva owned a food kiosk near the survivor’s residence and she used to have snacks from there often. In due course of time, Shiva befriended the girl.
“On the day of the attack, he and Sumit stormed the house of the girl and Shiva tried to force himself on her. The girl raised an alarm following which her uncle reached the spot. Sumit and Shiva attacked him on the head. To escape her attackers, the girl climbed up the stairs and reached the terrace. However, Shiva followed her and in the struggle, threw her down the ledge. The duo fled thereafter,” said Singh.
