Lucknow Super Giants part ways with head coach Andy Flower

NEW DELHI: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, on Friday announced the departure of head coach Andy Flower after his two-season stint with the team.

LSG took to twitter to thank Flower for his services. “Dear Andy, Today it’s farewell, but it’ll never be goodbye because you’ll always be one of our own. Thank you for everything!”

Flower, who previously worked as an assistant coach for the Punjab Kings, joined LSG in 2021. Under his guidance, the team achieved impressive back-to-back third-place finishes in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022 and 2023.

During his time with the Super Giants, Flower collaborated closely with the team's director of cricket, Gautam Gambhir, and they formed a successful partnership. The team reached the playoffs in both seasons, finishing third in their debut IPL season in 2022 and getting eliminated in the Eliminator in IPL 2023.

A former Zimbabwe captain and wicketkeeper-batter, Flower is renowned as one of England's most successful coaches. He played a crucial role in England's three consecutive Ashes victories in the 2000s, including notable triumphs in 2009 and 2013 on home soil and an outstanding victory Down Under in 2010-11.

Currently serving as a consultant for the Australian men's cricket team, Flower's vast experience and expertise make him one of the most respected coaches in the T20 circuit.
