Lucknow: Six booked for thrashing youth in Vikas Nagar

LUCKNOW: A youth was allegedly stripped and thrashed in Vikas Nagar on Monday on the suspicion of being deeply involved with a girl who was known to him.

The victim lodged an FIR against attackers some of whom are women working at a mahila empowerment centre.

In his complaint, the victim, identified as Rahim Khan of Vikas Nagar, said he was going to sell fruits when he found that his mobile phone was not fully charged.

Thus, he went to the centre where the girl worked and got involved in talks with her.

In the meantime, a female staff member reached there and started crying while accusing both of them of being very cosy while talking.

Hearing her cries convenor of the centre and others reached the spot, said the police.

The men tore off the shirt of the complainant and started beating him up mercilessly drawing the attention of the public who had assembled at the spot in a huge number.

Some persons also tried to rescue the youth, but to no avail. Somebody from the mob filmed the incident and made it viral on social media.

Assistant commissioner of police, Mahanagar, Jaya Shandilya said that an FIR was lodged against six named by the victim.

Meanwhile, in an another case reported from the Bijnor police station area, Jitendra Kumar Yadav (40) fell into a deep well while going to meet his female acquaintance.

“It took 30 minutes for us to recover Jitendra,” said SHO, Bijnor, Raj Kumar Singh.
