LUCKNOW: A massive fire broke out at the scrap market in Keshav Nagar area of Madiaon after Tuesday midnight, and gutted the market and some nearby shanties.
A 45-year-old man sustained burns and was rushed to the hospital.
The blaze started at a scrap shop around 3.20am on Wednesday and spread at an alarming pace to turn severe within a short span of time. The fire spread to other shops in no time, triggering panic in the locality following which locals informed the police and fire department. The fire continued to spread to other shops creating panic in the neighborhood and the massive fire gutted the market.
Huge flames engulfed 10 shops and 15 nearby shanties. One Munna sustained burns in the fire and was rushed to a private hospital by police.
Chief fire officer Vijay Kumar Singh said that prime facie it appears that a short circuit triggered the fire which turned into a massive blaze.
