Lucknow: RMLIMS doctor booked for sexual assault

LUCKNOW: A resident doctor working in the general surgery department of Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) has been accused of sexual assault by a 24-year-old MBBS student doing her internship at the hospital.

The girl has alleged that the doctor locked the room in the old OPD and tried to outrage her modesty, but she managed to wriggle out and fled.

She lodged a complaint following which a case of illegal detention and sexual assault has been registered against the doctor.

In her complaint, the woman said she has been working in the general surgery department since June 8 and the doctor had evil designs on her since the day she joined.

“He used to pass comments at me. He used to call me on WhatsApp and sent messages. At around 12.30 pm on Tuesday, I was in room number 9 in Old OPD when he locked the room and tried to misbehave with me. I somehow saved myself and fled and later narrated the incident to my mother,” she said.

(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
