Lucknow: Now, eight diarrhoea cases surface in Sarojininagar

LUCKNOW: Eight diarrhoea patients, including seven children, were reported from Sarojininagar in the last 48 hours, till Monday evening.

Locals said three children had been admitted to a local private hospital following dehydration due to loose motion and vomiting, others suffering from abdominal pain and fever and were being treated at home. They claimed that a six-year-old child died due to diarrhoea on Sunday. Health authorities, however, denied the claim.

Local corporator, Munna Lal Kureel, has written to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) requesting for testing of water supplied to the area and setting up of a health camp.

CMO Dr Manoj Agrawal said, “Jal Sansthan checked the water supply quality and found it to be fit for consumption. It appears that people fell ill after consuming contaminated food. Those in hospital are stable.”

Denying that the 6-yearold died due to diarrhea, the CMO said, “The child was suffering from cerebral palsy and was admitted to private hospitals following seizures.”

He said the local community health centre had been asked to remain alert and report if anyone complains of diarrhoea or vomiting.
