LUCKNOW: As spurt in the dengue cases continued on Friday, the city’s tally crossed 400-mark with 19 more cases reported from hospitals. Of these, 332 (81%) cases have come in the past month. While till July this year, only 58 cases had surfaced, 15 cases were recorded in August.
However, a drastic rise in the cases was witnessed in September following heavy rainfall in the third week. Fresh cases included six women and 13 men. Of these, three were serious and had to be hospitalised. Their condition was said to be stable. Most of the new cases were reported from Alambagh, Turiya Ganj, Aliganj, Indiranagar, Chinhat, NK Road, Kaiserbagh areas of the city. In fact, the majority of the cases this month have come from these areas.
Officers, however, said that situation was under control.
Meanwhile, in its ongoing survey health department teams found breeding ground of female mosquito Aedes aegypti – the carrier of dengue virus - at 50 places in Aashiaana, LDA Colony, Triveninagar, Faizullahganj, Jankipuram, Rajajipuram, and Gomtinagar.
Chief medical officer Dr Manoj Agrawal said that people should not allow water accumulation in houses because Aedes aegypti female mosquitoes lay eggs in freshwater. Besides, residents should use mosquito nets or repellents to protect themselves.
