Lucknow municipal corporation civil working to go paperless

LUCKNOW: All the civil works in the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) will soon go paperless.

According to LMC officials, the entire paperwork related to construction, demolition and renovation in the city will be maintained digitally.

The decision has been taken to improve the project and filing system of the civic body.

For this purpose, the civic body has created a special software system which would convert project files into digital copies and arrange them according to the need. The software will also help in generating estimates for civil works.

For instance, if a road is to be built in any corner of the city, only measurements of length, breadth, height and materials will have to be fed into the software and it will generate estimated cost of the project, said LMC officials.

"This will make the process of construction more transparent. All the files will be digitally signed and have auto-generated unique ID and barcode. Digital diary inspections of works will also be maintained on a digital app," said municipal commissioner Ajay Dwivedi.
