Lucknow: Man posing as cop dupes woman of gold ornaments

LUCKNOW: An unidentified miscreant posing as a cop conned a 75-year-old woman of her ornaments in Gomti Nagar.

Police officials said Lalita Yadav of Vipul Khand had gone for morning walk on Tuesday when she was stopped by a man near Brahma Kumaris Centre. Claiming to be a policeman, he showed her a photo saying a woman had been murdered in the locality.

He said she had violated rules by going for a walk when a murder had taken place and will have to pay Rs 5,000 as fine The old woman got scared and asked him to talk to her son as she had no money with her. She panicked, felt dizzy and sat on the ground in anxiety and felt he pulled off her gold chain and two gold rings and fled. Her son Ajeet Yadav lodged a complaint with police.
