LUCKNOW: Celebrations to mark the formation of Khalsa Panth and Baisakhi began in the city on Saturday. Highlights of festivities this year include a light & sound show, prabhat pheris, nagar kirtans and gurbani kirtans.
On Saturday, Gurdwara Yahiyaganj welcomed Ragi Jagpal Singh from the UK who sang gurbani kirtan all night. Various ragi jathas will visit the gurdwara this week. The finale of the kirtan and quiz competition will be organised at Sadar Gurdwara on Sunday.
President of Naka Gurdwara Rajendra Singh Bagga said, “A prabhat pheri led by the five beloved men (panch pyare) will be organised by Gurdwara Naka Hindola from 6.30am to 9am on April 12. Devotees can get Amritpaan from them on April 14. It will be followed by shabad kirtan by the ragi jatha from Amritsar led by Satnam Singh and Rajesh Singh.”The light & sound show titled ‘Dharma ki Chadar: Guru Tegh Bahadur’ will be organised on April 15 from 7.30 pm to 9pm at Gurdwara Sadar, said president Harpal Singh Jaggi.
“Dastar Bandi (turban tying) competition will be organised on April 15. A health camp and Sikhi Bana (traditional outfit) competition for kids and Amritpaan ceremony will be organised on April 17,” he added.
