Lucknow: La Martiniere Girls’ College students, staff give samples

LUCKNOW: A day after two students of La Martiniere Girls’ College tested Covid-19 positive, health department teams took swab samples of 247 students and staff members during its contact tracing drive on Monday.

Nearly 142 students and 97 staff members, including teachers, drivers and peons gave swab samples for the RTPCR test during the drive conducted on college premises. Teams were also sent to collect samples to residences of eight students and their parents who had influenza-like symptoms.

District Covid-19 Surveillance Officer, Dr Milind Vardhan said, “The results of the test are likely to come within 24 hours. Till then people who came in close contact have been advised to stay home.”

He further said that the health department is closely monitoring the condition of students who were tested positive earlier.

Meanwhile, a meeting was held between health department officials and the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) regarding Covid control in schools.

In the meeting it was decided that schools would be asked to strictly follow Covid protocols and masks will be compulsory both for school staff and students. Besides, schools will contact those students who have not come to school for the past two-three days. If any student confirms that he/ she is not coming because of influenza-like symptoms, details will be shared with the health department for sample collection.
