Lucknow gets 2 new Covid cases, 8 of suspected dengue

LUCKNOW: Two persons tested positive for Covid-19 in the city on Saturday, while eight suspected cases of dengue were reported at two government hospitals in the past 24 hours.

The two Covid-19 cases were from Sarojininagar.

“The patients were suffering from some or the other disease and got themselves tested for Covid-19 at a private lab before going for consultation at SGPGIMS. After test reports came positive for coronavirus, they were advised home isolation. Contact tracing is underway,” said deputy chief medical officer Dr Milind Vardhan.

On the other hand, eight persons tested positive for dengue: seven at Lokbandhu Hospital and one at Balrampur Hospital. They had visited OPDs with complaints of high fever. Their samples have not been sent for the confirmatory ELISA test. All are stable and recuperating at home.

Meanwhile, 22,210 people including 9,294 women got fully vaccinated against Covid-19 on Saturday.

CMO Dr Manoj Agarwal said Friday’s mega vaccination drive could not be extended to Saturday as announced earlier because many healthcare workers worked till late night on Friday.
