LUCKNOW: A team of Lucknow electricity supply administration (Lesa) was allegedly attacked with iron rods, clubs and stones during a drive against power pilferage in Purani Sardari Kheda in Alambagh, on Thursday night.
Additional engineer and other Lesa staff members were injured in the incident.
An FIR was lodged against four identified and seven unidentified persons under sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant while discharging his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 352 (assault or use of criminal force to any person otherwise than on grave and sudden provocation),147 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 338 (causing grievous hurt to endanger human life or personal safety), 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) of the Indian Penal Code and and Section 135 of the Indian Electricity Act, 2003.
The named accused were identified as Sonu, Waheed, Shahil and Shafikul.
In the FIR, additional enginner Ram Kailash Yadav said during inspection, a team, led by SDO Ashish Shrivastav, found use of ‘katia’ (illegal connection) in Purani Sardari Kheda and started recording a video.
“Suddenly, a group of men attacked us with iron rods, clubs while some others threw stones from the rooftop. I suffered a head injury while others also sustained injuries,” Yadav said, adding that the residents also snatched the mobile phone which was used to make the video.
Meanwhile, 40 FIRs were lodged in connection with power pilferage in Jambukhana and Hussainganj. Two FIRs were lodged in Rahimnagar.
