Lucknow: Ear, nose and throat machine lying defunct at govt hospital

LUCKNOW: Patients coming to Balrampur hospital with hearing loss, suppurative otitis, balance loss and other issues related to the function of the inner ear have no option but to visit other hospitals as the audiometry machine here is lying defunct for 15 days.

According to the officials of Balrampur Hospital, around 15 to 25 patients used to undergo audiometry tests every day. However, 15 days ago there was a fault in the machine. As a result, patients either are going to other government hospitals or they are waiting for the machine to be fixed.

Suresh Kumar, who came to the ENT department of Balrampur hospital on Friday, said, "I have been to the hospital twice in 15 days, but the test could not be done. Now, I will visit another hospital for it."

When asked, chief medical superintendent, Balrampur hospital, Dr GP Gupta said, "We are fixing the machine and it will start functioning from Monday. The delay was caused because some parts had to be imported and it took time."
