Lucknow: Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University architecture department to be excellence centre

LUCKNOW: To help students conduct quality research work, the faculty of architecture at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University will be made a centre of excellence.

Students will also be trained for skills in the field. The decision was taken in AKTU's finance committee meeting on Saturday.

Besides, a centre of excellence laboratory will be established in the mechanical engineering department of Institute of Engineering Technology.

"At AKTU, we will promote quality research work and nurture students as field experts through the centre of excellence," said vice-chancellor Prof PK Mishra.

To impart quality education, the committee has approved the budget for two new institutes of pharmacy and management which will be functional from the academic session 2022-23.

Special provision and budget have been sanctioned for research and holistic development in the university, said Mishra.

"We want AKTU to contribute to the development of society not just through academics but also by working on social issues. It can be through our students and teachers taking out time to teach slum children or making efforts to save the environment," the VC said.

The meeting also approved setting up of National Cadet Corps and National Service Scheme units in the university.
