Lucknow: Cops rescue woman abandoned by husband

LUCKNOW: A woman, in her early 30s, was rescued from a rehabilitation centre located on Takrohi road on Monday after her mother accused her US-based son-in-law of abandoning her.

"Prima facie it has come to the fore that the woman's husband used forged medical prescriptions and ailments to get her admitted to the rehab with an ulterior motive," said Piyush Mordia, JCP, law and order. Around 4pm, the mother of the woman reached JCP Mordia's office and petitioned about her daughter's case who was married in 2010. Thereafter, she was subjected to cruelty and in December 2021 her husband got a job in the US and settled with his six-year-old daughter, she told cops.

"Before leaving for US, her husband also got her admitted to a rehab declaring her mentally unsound," said Mordia

The mother of the woman reached the rehab to meet her daughter but was not allowed. The victim also tried to meet her mother but was denied. On Monday, due to the intervention of police, the woman was rescued from the rehab. The mother and daughter hugged each other and wept.

"We are inquiring into the matter and an FIR will be registered in the case soon," said Mordia.
