Lucknow: Behind A++ grade, hard work of 2.5 years by team of 10 young teachers

LUCKNOW: Much like students who wait for their results with bated breath, a team of 10 young LU teachers sat together with fingers crossed early since Tuesday morning.

The fruits of their labour of 2.5 years - the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) grading was expected to be announced by noon, and every minute of wait was making them anxious.

And when the news of LU getting A++ rating arrived on IQAC id, the team led by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) director Prof Rajiv Manohar jumped in excitement.

There were celebrations, exchange of congratulatory messages, the usual hugging amid tears of joy overflowing.

The reaction was natural given the fact that for over 2 years this team had worked silently in a room at LU's ONGC building to complete the herculean task of meeting the "seven parameters of NAAC".

"The aim was to get what LU truly deserved. With all support from the VC, we worked strategically and divided the work," said the IQAC director.

"We gave our 100%. We stayed back after usual lectures, worked on data collection, made a self-study report for NAAC, checked every document before uploading on NAAC website," said zoology faculty Geetanjali Mishra.

"It was not an easy task," said faculty of applied economics, Karuna Shanker and Nagendra K Maurya.

Another team member Anupama Singh from the statistics department said, "We translated documents from Hindi to English and made e-content of everything."

A business administration faculty Ajai Prakash, said, "Same data has to be filled in 10 places. Everything has to be properly linked, revised and re-checked."

Physics faculty, Atul Srivastava said, "We worked like a fine-tuned machine. Elated to be part of the history."

Roli Misra and Ashok Kaithal said, "We had set a target of highest grade and worked without a break for numerous times. It paid off."
