Lucknow: Aspiring actor accuses man of rape, Rs 20 lakh extortion

LUCKNOW: A man allegedly raped an aspiring actor active on social media by luring her with the promise of a career in showbiz. He is on the run.

Not only this, the accused, Divyansh Tiwari aka Rajendra Pandit, also extorted Rs 20 lakh from the woman.

The two had met last year during the lockdown. At the time, the woman was actively making videos on YouTube and TikTok and had come from Mumbai.

“Divyansh heaped praises on the woman and said he could chisel her career as he had a production house, and several films were to be released under his banner,” said police based on the FIR.

Over time, Divyansh and the woman began to live together as a couple.

The survivor also alleged that she got pregnant and Divyansh forced her to get an abortion. Shortly afterwards, she conceived again and gave birth to a girl.

During this time, Divyansh also took Rs 20 lakh from her on pretexts of making a film, treatment of his sister and other work.

Later, he reneged from his promise of marrying her and threw her out of the house, she alleged.

ADCP, north, Prachi Singh said that an FIR under charges of rape, dishonesty and forgery against Divyansh has been lodged and probe is underway.

(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
