LUCKNOW: As the surge in the dengue cases continued, at least eight more confirmed and 38 suspected cases were reported in the city on Sunday.
All the confirmed cases were serious and patients had to be hospitalised — six in SPM Civil hospital and two in Balrampur Hospital. Officials said patients’ platelets count was below 20,000 against normal range of 1.5 lakh to 4.5 lakh per microliter of blood. The tally since September has now reached 548. A teenager had succumbed to the disease on Sunday last.
Chief medical superintendent, SPM Civil Hospital, Dr SK Nanda, and Balrampur Hospital director Dr Alok Srivastava, said the condition of the patients was stable. If required, they will be administered platelets, they added.
Meanwhile, 38 patients, including three children, were found suffering from dengue through the card test method at Lokbandhu Hospital. Their samples have been sent for confirmatory ELISA tests. Ten of them, including a child, are said to be serious and admitted to the hospital’s fever wards.
Meanwhile, health department teams found the larvae of Aedes aegypti – dengue carrier - in 17 houses in Chinhat, Ismailganj, Shardanagar, Vidyavati, Triveninagar, Rajajipuram and Hussainabad during the ongoing source reduction drive.
