LUCKNOW: Around 69 samples taken for Zika virus testing by the health department and sent to King George’s Medical University (KGMU) tested negative for the virus on Monday.
These samples belonged to people who either lived close by or worked with the three Zika virus patients, residing in LDA colony Kanpur road, Phoolbagh and Lal Kuan areas of the city.
“All the samples tested for Zika virus apart from the three patients, have tested negative till now. As many as 83 more samples of residents from the three areas were taken on Monday and sent further to KGMU,” said district surveillance officer Dr Milind Vardhan.
The three Zika patients — a 24-year-old girl from LDA colony, 32-year-old man from Phoolbagh and a 48-year-old woman Lal Kuan — were doing well, as per the health department.
“The radius for sample testing has been expanded to around 406 kilometres from the case. Samples of those people who were not present in the areas on Sunday or became symptomatic later on Monday, were taken,” he said.
