LUCKNOW: Two miscreants were arrested by Vikasnagar police near the mini stadium in Vikasnagar on Saturday. The accused used to snatch gold chains while riding on stolen bikes.
The accused were identified as Vishal Khattri (47) of Punjab and Yogesh Bhatt (34) of Para area.
Khattri has more than 12 cases lodged against him across the state including the Gangster Act lodged in Barabanki.
DCP North Zone, Qasim Abidi told TOI that the police got a tip-off from an informer that the miscreants were near the stadium. A police team was given input about their location and they were arrested from Vikasnagar. "The accused used to steal bikes and then with the same bike they used to snatch chains in areas like Aliganj, Vikasnagar and Vibhuti Khand," said Abidi.
Police recovered three-four gold chains, gold locket, Rs 8,600 and two bikes. The accused were arrested under charges of robbery and dishonestly receiving stolen property, said ADCP Anil Kumar Yadav.
