LUCKNOW: A day after two trigger-happy youths were arrested for opening fire in the air near the high-security DGP headquarters on Shaheed Path, 10 others have come under scanner. Two police teams have been constituted to raid and arrest them, said a senior police officer.
Assistant commissioner of police, Gosainganj, Swati Chaudhary, said police slapped additional charges of rioting and rioting with armed weapons against the accused duo of Manish and Neeraj, who were sent to jail on Saturday.
“We will soon nab the other accused. CCTV footage from near the mall are being scanned to zero in on them,” she said. Names of 10 others surfaced during sustained interrogation of the two accused.Earlier, a nine-second video went viral in which scores of youths could be seen opening fire near a prominent mall adjacent to Shaheed Path. At least 40 youths were seen celebrating, while one of them was firing in the air from a pistol. While some parked their cars along the road and were recording the incident, those living in the vicinity said, the youths were celebrating in the middle of the arterial road and firing in the air.
