A Canberra man was shocked to discover his lucky draw was hiding in his drawer.
The man held one of four division-one winning entries from Saturday Lotto draw 4097 which was announced on October 24, 2020.
Each division one winner earned $1,614,571.04.
The man bought his ticket a Euro Garages Australia in Hume.
"I've been playing Lotto for about 10 years, and I don't check my tickets all the time. I only check them every three months or so," he said.
"I finally got around to checking my ticket and I couldn't believe it.
"It's crazy to think that $1.6 million has been sitting in that drawer for months ... I wish I had of checked the ticket sooner."
The man said the feeling about his surprise win was hard to describe but he had some plan for his newfound fortune.
"It was crazy. It was amazing," he said.
"I am going to take care of my family and pay off the mortgage.
"I'll definitely keep working and think of how to invest the rest."
