Lucifer season 5 release date confirmed as Netflix bosses unveil steamy clip

Lucifer fans can breathe a sigh of relief as their favourite dose of devilish fun is finally making a return to Netflix.

The Lord of Hell (Tom Ellis) will be returning to screens for the season 5 premier on August 21, according to streaming bosses.

The hunky actor will be joined by co-stars Lauren German, Lesley-Ann Brandt and D.B Woodside for the epic first half of the fifth season installment.

According to television insiders, the series consists of two lots of eight episodes that will be released on separate dates.

Announcing the news on social media, the show's producers dropped a video of 66.6 seconds of the show's best bits alongside the first half release date.

"and now, for your viewing enjoyment, we present 66.6 seconds of #lucifer 's hottest, sexiest, most downright devilish moments. season 5 part 1 drops august 21 on @netflix," the caption hilariously wrote.

The lengthy clip featured a steamy collection of the show's best scenes which included some almost-nude characters and lots of flirty moments, however there was no new footage among the compilation.

The official teaser for the upcoming season also revealed that there could be some shock twists yet to come.

"In the stunning fifth season of Lucifer, the stakes are higher than ever.

"Secrets will be revealed, beloved characters will die, and we’ll finally get an answer to the question, ‘will they or won’t they?" the teaser read.

The show had originally aired on Fox for three seasons before producers announced that it was being axed.

Netflix swooped in to save the day and picked up the series for Season 4.

Season 5 was confirmed last year, but it was also hinted that this would be the final season of the show.

Netflix had remained quiet about the devil-focused show until now, however it's not long before Lucifer makes his triumphant return.
