Netflix has announced a release date for the first half of the “final season” of Lucifer.
The show, which follows the king of Hell (Tom Ellis) as he solves crimes with LA Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) and runs the Lux nightclub, will apparently return on 21 August.
The streaming service put a notice up that only appears when searching for the show – the cast have remained silent regarding the series’ return.
A video shared from the show’s Twitter account, with a running time of 66.6 seconds, looks at some of the character’s naughtiest moments and confirms the release date.
Fans had already been told by showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson that, among a number of events this season, they can expect the show’s first ever full-length musical episode.
Lucifer’s last season concluded with him returning to his place as king of Hell, having realised that he needs to be present in order to contain the other demons who live there.
Before Lucifer returned to Hell, he had declared his love to Detective Decker after she helped him prevent a demon uprising.
His former paramour, Eve (Inbar Lavi) had also departed, leaving behind a broken-hearted Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt).
Meanwhile, Lucifer’s brother, the angel Amenadiel (DB Woodside) and therapist Linda (Rachael Harris) were working out how to parent their newborn (half-human, half-angel) son.
Lucifer returns to Netflix on 21 August.
