Lucien Favre next Celtic manager price crash as oddsmakers adjust amid Eddie Howe wait

The odds on former Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre to become the next manager of Celtic have plummeted.

The 63-year-old is now the second favourite to become the club's next boss as talks with Eddie Howe continue.

The former Bournemouth boss has held discussions with the Parkhead board and he wants his trusted lieutenant Richard Hughes to join him in Glasgow.

The pursuit to find a permanent successor for Neil Lennon is expected to intensify when incoming chief executive Dominic McKay joins from Scottish Rugby next Friday.

Howe remains the hot favourite at 4/9 but the well-travelled Favre is now out in clear with odds makers as the second choice at 9/4.

Lucien Favre (Lars Baron)

The Swiss manager has forged an enviable reputation in European football after eye-catching stays with Nice and Borussia Monchengladbach.

He has reportedly put himself forward for the role but reports in France suggest he is the favourite to succeed Rudi Garcia at Lyon in the summer.

Updated odds - provided by Oddschecker

Frank Lampard - 9/1

Chris Wilder - 6/1

Enzo Maresca - 11/2

Roy Keane - 5/1
