Lucien Favre joins Celtic manager race as former Borussia Dortmund boss 'interested' in post

A new name has joined the race to be Celtic manager with Lucien Favre 'interested' in the job, according to a report.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss has been out of work since being sacked by the German giants in December following a horror 5-1 defeat to Stuttgart.

He's had a long and impressive career, though, and has thrown his name into the ring for the Celtic job as the Hoops continue to look for a new manager.

Eddie Howe and Roy Keane are the current favourites to replace Neil Lennon, with John Kennedy currently in interim charge.

The Daily Mail say Favre has suggested he would be willing to join Celtic but they face stiff competition for the former Switzerland international.

The 63-year-old has been heavily linked with the job at Lyon when Rudi Garcia leaves the club in the summer.

He's previously managed in France with Nice but has spent the majority of his career in his homeland and in Germany.

His first big break came with Servette before a spell with Zurich, and then moved to Germany with Hertha Berlin in 2007.

A move to Borussia Monchengladbach saw his stock rise over his four years at the club before he joined Nice and then Dortmund.
