Good morning and welcome to our latest Arsenal Q&A with football.london club writer Art de Roche.
It's set to be a busy day for the Gunners with the transfer deadline at 11pm tonight. So far in the window, the signings of Willian, Gabriel Magalhaes, Dani Ceballos and Runar Alex Runarsson have plugged some holes in the side but there remains one key area to address.
Arsenal have been crying out for a creative midfielder but now have just half a day to complete any deals they are able to pull off. A move for Houssem Aouar now looks unlikely, as it appears the club will be undergoing outgoing business more than incomings.
Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira look set for loans to Hertha Berlin and Atletico Madrid respectively while Sead Kolasinac appears to be on the move to Bayer Leverkusen on a permanent basis.
Speaking the day before deadline day, Mikel Arteta addressed his hopes for today.
"I am confident we know exactly what we want to do, that we are all trying our best to finalise the deals that we want," he said after beating Sheffield United 2-1.
"Whether that is sending people on loan or bringing someone in, we have complete connection between myself, Edu, the board and the ownership, Let's see what happens in the next 36 hours.
"I always think I try to be, even when I’m here, really honest and clear. Believe me, believe me, the ownership, the board, Edu and myself are doing everything we can to maximise the resources we have to improve the team and sustain and keep the players that are in this club and make this club successful.
"I have 100% backing from them and it’s not just words, it’s reality. Whoever knows me, if it wasn’t like that I wouldn’t say that. But I say it because I feel it.
"Whatever we can do, whether it’s ourselves or the owner, they are willing to do it to support us, to back us because I feel that they believe in what we’re trying to do."
