Lucas Torreira's t-shirt celebration explained after Arsenal's win over Napoli

Arsenal enjoyed a good night against Napoli in the Europa League on Thursday.

Gunners supporters will know that the job is only half done, but the 2-0 advantage that they'll take to Naples is a very useful one, even though it probably should be even bigger.

The Gunners dominated for much of the game, certainly during the first half anyway, and they raced into a two goal lead before the half hour mark.

First Aaron Ramsey slotted in after being well found by Alexandre Lacazette, and then Lucas Torreira saw his strike from the edge of the box deflect in off Kalidou Koulibaly and find the net.

It would ultimately go down as an own goal from the Senegalese defender, but Torreira was still determined to celebrate it as though it was his own strike.

And rightly so.

The little Uruguayan ran to the touchline and grabbed a t-shirt from the bench, before holding it up and showing it to a camera.

The t-shirt showed an image of Torreira with a friend, with the pair both holding a shirt of his former club Sampdoria. The words underneath the image translate as "We love and miss you, Rafita."

Reports suggest that the friend shown in the image - believed to be named Rafael Guarino and from Torreira's home town of Fray Bentos in Uruguay - died in a car accident on Saturday.

Torreira would have risked a booking had he been wearing the t-shirt underneath his kit.

UEFA's Law 4, Section 5 states: "Equipment must not have any political, religious or personal slogans, statements or images.

"Players must not reveal undergarments that show political, religious, personal slogans, statements or images, or advertising other than the manufacturer's logo."
