Lucas Torreira's agent fuels Arsenal transfer speculation amid AC Milan links

Lucas Torreira's agent has responded to rumours the midfielder could leave Arsenal to join AC Milan this summer.

The Uruguayan enjoyed an encouraging first season in the Premier League but sparked concerns over his future when he revealed he preferred life in Italy last week.

It has led to reports AC Milan are readying a player-plus-cash deal for the 22-year-old, reuniting him with his former Sampdoria manager, Marco Giampaolo.

His agent, Pablo Bentancurt, has now broken his silence and fuelled speculation Torreira wants to leave the Gunners by saying a reunion with Giampaolo "could be something special".

But he insists he is yet to hold any talks with the Serie A giants regarding a summer switch which would deal Unai Emery a major blow.

Bentancurt told CalcioMercato : "I know nothing about the Rossoneri's interest, no one contacted me.

"I have learned of this possibility through the press.

"If Giampaolo's call could be something special for Lucas? Yes, clearly ".

A move for Torreira would reportedly cost AC Milan around £40m, although they could offer the Gunners Franck Kessie as part of the deal.

The Ivorian striker has fallen out of favour and is keen on a switch to England having been tracked by the Gunners when he played for Atalanta.

When asked last week about what he likes in England, Torreira admitted: "I don’t know if there are many things that I enjoy.

"I think it was better in Italy. England is a totally different world, a very large country.

"The language [barrier] has cost me, to be able to relate with my peers and with the people. It is very difficult when you can’t have dialogue.

"And so is the climate. You go out in the morning and it is cloudy, you arrive late to your home and it is cloudy."
