Lucas Torreira interest as Man Utd face Alexis Sanchez problem - Premier League transfer rumours

The football season may be postponed indefinitely, but that paves the way for the transfer gossip to grab the headlines.

It remains unclear if the summer transfer window will take place as usual at the end of the season, with the campaign likely to be delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the teams around the Premier League are still doing whatever they can during these difficult times to gain an advantage on the clubs around them.

Here are today’s Premier League transfer rumours:

Premier League footballers should take a pay cut - UK health secretary

Liverpool enter Soumare race

Liverpool have joined the race to sign Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare, with Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City and Newcastle United already interested.

A report from Spanish publication Sport claims that Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the 21-year-old midfielder.

They also say that the Reds started negotiating with Soumare in the summer of 2019 but he wanted another season in France before any potential transfer.

Soumare has played 30 times for Lille this season and is valued at around €40m, but that could be affected by the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Sport say that Soumare will wait to see what Real Madrid do in the summer, as he will have to consider his options.

Reds also interested in Sevilla defender

Liverpool are also interested in Sevilla defender Diego Carlos, according to Spanish media outlet Marca .

The report says that Klopp is determined to find Virgil van Dijk “a solid partner”, despite already having Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren in the squad.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are also keeping tabs on the 27-year-old defender, as the Reds could face competition for his signature.

Carlos has played 25 times this season in La Liga for Sevilla, scoring two goals for the Spanish side along the way.

Milan offer for Silva

David Silva is out of contract at Manchester City when the season ends, and Italian giants AC Milan have submitted an offer for the 34-year-old’s services, according to Corriere dello Sport .

Before the start of the current season, Silva revealed that he would no longer serve City at the end of the campaign.

There were reports that the Spanish playmaker would start a new career in Asia, but according to the Italian media outlet, Milan will offer him a chance to stay in Europe.

It also states that the club had a meeting with his agent to see if there was any chance if he would consider a move to Italy.

Torreira also wanted by Milan

AC Milan will reignite their previous interest in Arsenal defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira, according to Corriere dello Sport .

Torreira signed for the Gunners in the summer of 2018 from Italian side Sampdoria and has become a key member of the Arsenal midfield.

Milan were interested in the Uruguay midfielder last summer but the Gunners kept hold of him, but this report suggests the European giants will come back in for the 24-year-old.

Arsenal would want around £40m for Torreira, which could prove a stumbling block for Milan in any potential deal.

United struggling to sell Sanchez

Manchester United are struggling to offload Alexis Sanchez this summer, with the forward’s high wages proving to put other teams off potential suitors.

Sanchez is on loan at Inter Milan this season and is expected to return to Old Trafford once the season ends, with Inter not too keen on keeping him at the San Siro.

The Chilean forward is on around £450,000-a-week in Manchester, and according to the Standard , United’s hierarchy are considering the options for their highest-paid player.

They also state that another loan move for the former Arsenal forward could be the best option for United.
