Lucas Torreira and Mesut Ozil to return against Everton but Arsenal confirm double injury doubts

Lucas Torreira and Mesut Ozil are available for Arsenal's Premier League encounter against Everton on Sunday afternoon.

Both players missed the 1-0 Europa League round of 32 first-leg win over Olympiacos in midweek for differing reasons.

The defensive midfielder didn't travel to Greece because of illness, while the attacking midfielder - who scored in last weekend's 4-0 win over Newcastle United - also stayed behind in London as his wife is due to give birth.

But both are in contention to start against the Toffees in a double boost for head coach Mikel Arteta.

As revealed via the club's official website, Torreira and Ozil are listed as "available for selection" ahead of the game in north London and it just remains to be seen if they're restored to the line up.

However, the Gunners do have concerns over Hector Bellerin and Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

The full-back was another who didn't travel to Greece as a precaution over a groin issue, while his replacement at right-back in Sokratis suffered a knee problem late in the game.

The two defenders are being assessed ahead of the Everton fixture and could face late fitness tests.

"Hector Bellerin - Back in full training and being assessed ahead of Everton (h) further to missing Olympiacos (a) as a precaution to tight left groin."

"Sokratis Papastathopoulos Right knee. Sustained during Olympiacos (a). Being assessed ahead of Everton (h)."

January Cedric Soares will miss the clash against the Merseyside outfit with a knee injury, although he is hoping to be in full training within the next week.

Kieran Tierney is ahead of schedule following a shoulder operation as he is now aiming to be back in full training by the end of the month after his initial return date was March.

All of which leaves Calum Chambers as the one long-term absentee after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury against Chelsea just after Christmas. He has since undergone surgery, meaning that he will be out of action for a period of between six to nine months.
