Lucas Paqueta injury update as West Ham prepare for Gent trip

Lucas Paqueta is back in contention for West Ham's Europa Conference League clash with Gent, boosting their hopes of reaching a second straight European semi-final.

The Hammers travel to take on the Belgian side in tomorrow's quarter-final first leg looking to continue a superb run that has seen them win 10 games on the spin in the competition this term. Paqueta sat out Saturday's game at Fulham, having picked up a knock during last week's 5-1 defeat by Newcastle, but returned to training yesterday.

In the Brazilian's absence, David Moyes switched to a 4-4-2 at Craven Cottage, with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek playing as a midfield pair, and was rewarded with a 1-0 win that eases relegation fears.

Moyes's side were this morning due to train again before travelling to Belgium, with a full squad expected to take part, bar Gianluca Scamacca, who remains sidelined with a knee issue.

Moyes has an interesting selection dilemma, having made five changes to his line-up at Fulham, which included recalling several players who have otherwise relied on the Conference League for opportunities.

The Scot has tended to rotate his squad in Europe but has hinted at wanting to field stronger XIs as the tournament reaches its business end.
