Lucas Ocampos addresses Sevilla future claims amid Liverpool transfer rumours

Lucas Ocampos has addressed the continued speculation linking him with a move away from Sevilla this summer.

Reports from Spain and Argentina recently claimed that the winger was being eyed by the Reds ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

After spells at French sides Monaco and Marseille, the 26-year-old moved to Spain in July 2019, signing a five-year contract with Julen Lopetegui’s side.

During his first season with the La Liga side, he helped them win the Europa League, beating Inter Milan in the final in Cologne.

Ocampos has quickly become one of the most prolific wingers in La Liga, scoring 24 goals in 80 appearances for Sevilla.

As well as the Reds, Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers have also been linked with Ocampos, but it appears he has no plans on leaving the Andalusia club.

“I am a player who is very grateful to this club. It made me feel very good personally to come here. I love the city. I am very happy and I don’t think of any other place than this,” he told Canal Sur Radio.

“I am grateful to this club because it gave me confidence and I exploded in many ways I have not done at other clubs. The happiness and desire to play soccer that I have here, I did not have in many other places.

“I am very happy – both myself and my family. I do not dislike at all the idea of continuing with this great club.”

Ocampos’ Sevilla contract expires in the summer of 2024, and it is believed he has a current release clause of £62million.
