Lucas Moura warns Tottenham team-mates of 'dangerous' Manchester United

Lucas Moura has warned his Tottenham Hotspur team-mates that it’s “always a dangerous time” to come up against Manchester United as they prepare to face Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s wounded side.

United head to North London on Saturday as they look to bring an end to their winless run in the Premier League, and banish the demons of their humiliating 5-0 defeat to Liverpool.

The game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will see two under-fire managers go head to head, with Solskjaer facing increasing pressure over his position, while Nuno Espirito Santo hasn’t made the most convincing of starts in charge of Spurs.

He did though manage to relieve some of the pressure on him with a midweek win over Burnley in the Carabao Cup, whereas United will head into the weekend with that embarrassing defeat to their biggest rivals still hanging over them.

Lucas though isn’t taking their recent form – which has seen United go four league games without a win, losing three of them – for granted, especially with Spurs sitting just a point ahead of them in the table.

“It is always a dangerous time to play against them,” Lucas said.

“They are hungry because of the game against Liverpool and we are hungry because of the game against West Ham.

“They have very good players, they have good experience in football and they’ll know how to pass this moment.

“This is not our problem, it doesn’t matter the moment they have, we just need to do our best, go on the pitch and fight and do our game to get three points.”

Lucas scored the only goal of the game as Tottenham squeezed past Burnley to book their place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, and he hopes that victory could be just the springboard needed following their defeat to West Ham last weekend.

“It was a very important win, especially after the defeat against West Ham and before the game against United,” he added.

“The feeling was very bad against West Ham because we played well and didn’t deserve to lose, and last night the feeling was very good.

“We played well, it was a very good performance, we deserved to win and now we go with everything against United.”
