Lucas Moura's first words after signing new Tottenham Hotspur contract

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Moura has spoken of his delight at extending his stay at the club.

Spurs have confirmed that the 26-year-old has put pen to paper of a new five-year deal, extending his stay at the club until 2024.

Moura has become a valuable member of Mauricio Pochettino's squad, stepping up in the absence of the injured Harry Kane by scoring a dramatic hattrick in the Champions League semi-final second leg against Ajax last season.

Following the announcement of the new deal, the Brazilian revealed his happiness at the news.

"I'm so happy, yes, it's very good news for me," he told SpursTV .

"I'm so happy here, I'm so comfortable here, everyone is amazing - the fans the club and I am so, so thankful for everything that the club gave me.

"Now I just need to give my best, like I do always, and show everyone that I love to play football and I want to bring a lot more for this club.

"My objective is always to be better and make the fans happy.

"To play football you need to feel comfortable, you need to be free and have nice teammates and I have this here. I feel it's really like a family here. My teammates are fantastic since my first day here, that's why I think the adaptation was really fast.

"I'm so, so happy here and I hope to stay for a long time and be happier always."

The winger has also outlined the teams ambitions during the 2019/20 season, with silverware on his mind.

"For this season I feel good things and I think we are better now, we are stronger. I think that we can get a trophy, we have the quality for this and I think it's another chapter with the new stadium and with new players," he said.

"We are strong and I feel that we can win a trophy, a championship. I am really excited to play because I feel that we will be happy this season."
