Tottenham winger Lucas Moura has revealed the conversation that took place between himself and manager Mauricio Pochettino before he entered the field of play against Manchester City yesterday (Saturday).
The Brazilian was a second half substitute during the game, coming on as Spurs were preparing to take a corner. After just 19 seconds on the pitch, Moura was wheeling away in celebration after rising the highest to put the ball beyond Ederson.
That goal would prove to be the all important equaliser ensuring that Tottenham would take a point back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with them.
Although Spurs did have a close scare, when Gabriel Jesus put the ball into the net for what seemed like the winning goal in the 93rd minute. But VAR and the new handball laws came to the rescue, with the technology spotting the ball coming off Man City defender Aymeric Laporte's arm before dropping into the path of Jesus.
"It was crazy. Was the last minute, I thought 'that's finished', but this kind of action is so difficult to see, only VAR can see, thank you for it," Moura told Sky Sports after the match.
The 27-year-old also revealed what his manager told him before he took to the field of play.
"He gave me the position that I need to play and in the corner, he said go to the penalty mark, I was there. He said be in the penalty mark, I was thinking about the action, when I saw the ball I jumped I thought 'I will score'."
