Lucas Moura has heaped praise on Nuno Espirito Santo's "relaxed style" of management on the Spurs training ground.
Espirito Santo has made a huge impact at Tottenham since taking over his predecessor at the beginning of the summer, helping Spurs to win all three of their opening Premier League games 1-0.
Victories over current champions Manchester City, Espirito Santo’s old side Wolves and newly promoted Watford have ensured that the Lilywhites sit top of the table going into Saturday’s early kick-off with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
However, Moura, who has started two of those three wins, also enjoyed working under Mourinho, and says they are still in regular contact.
“The relationship with [Jose] Mourinho is fantastic, it’s wonderful. Today I’m pleased to say that he has become a friend of mine,” he told ESPN Brazil.
“He’s a guy who gave me a giant boost, an impressive confidence.
“It’s a great honour to be one of the greatest coaches in world football. And for me it was a pleasure, I wish him success in his journey.
“And now another Portuguese, may well be successful. The relationship is already good with Nuno [Espirito Santo], hopefully it can be as good as it was with Mourinho.”
The 29-year-old continued by explaining what Espirito Santo has done to help Spurs enjoy such a good start, but the fact that both naturally speak Portuguese has helped his development in English football.
“It’s been very good. A very nice guy. A more relaxed guy, you know? More on his own, speaks low,” he said.
“He [Nuno] did a spectacular job at Wolves, he has everything to do a great job here too. We are slowly eating around the edges, we are there in the lead, three games, three wins.
“Let’s see what happens at the end of the season. But it’s been very positive. It makes it much easier that he’s Portuguese, the language makes it much easier. His training is very good. I’m very optimistic, very hopeful for this season.”
