Lucas Moura has hinted he would be open to signing a new contract at Tottenham.

The Brazilian has previously suggested he saw his long-term future back in Brazil and, with Spurs having signed Dejan Kuluseski and Richarlison over the last two windows, the 29-year-old’s first-team chances looked limited.

Still, Antonio Conte deployed the former PSG forward at right wing-back during Saturday’s pre-season draw with Sevilla, which could offer Moura a lifeline.

Djed Spence is expected to join from Middlesbrough to provide further competition, although neither Matt Doherty nor Emerson Royal convinced last season.

Conte believes Moura could be a “good option” there, a position so crucial to the way in which the Italian instructs his team to play.

The player himself has also reacting positively to the change, insisting “I am ready to give my best for the team, for him. It doesn’t matter the position on the pitch. I am here to help this squad.”

Currently out of contract next summer, Spurs do have the option of extending his deal by a further year and Moura has hinted an even longer stay.

“I will turn 30 in August. I’m getting old already, but I feel very good mentally and physically," he told football.london.

"I’m very, very happy at Tottenham. I love the club. I love the fans. I love everyone who works in the club, but of course I have a plan to go back to Brazil one day.

“I have at least one year in my contract, maybe two.

"I don’t know if the club will want me to sign another contract but I’m happy here.

“I just want to have the best season this season.

“I just want to win a trophy because this has been my objective here since the first day I arrived in the club, and I believe this season I can achieve this, and then we’ll see next season what is the desire of the club."
