Lucas Moura on his new role under Jose Mourinho and the head coach's message to the Spurs squad

The appointment of Jose Mourinho could just be what Lucas Moura needs to get back to his best for Spurs.

Playing a key role last campaign with some important goals for the Lilywhites, including the sensational hat-trick against Ajax in the Champions League semi-final, the Brazilian only has three to his name this season.

In and out of the team under Mauricio Pochettino, the 27-year-old has so far started in both of Mourinho's games in charge.

Finishing from close range in the 3-2 victory over West Ham last Saturday, he also had an impact on the game against Olympiacos as he teed up Harry Kane to level scores after the side had found themselves 2-0 down after only 20 minutes.

Utilised through the middle on a number of occasions by the former manager, Moura has been used wide on the right by Mourinho and it is a decision that has gone down well with him.

"Every player wants to play, it doesn't matter the position," he told reporters after the 4-2 win over Olympiacos. "But everyone knows I am not a No.9, it is not my best position.

"When Pochettino put me there I always gave my best because for me the most important thing is the team but each coach has one opinion, a different mind.

"Now I feel very good in this position. I always played in this position, I feel good and I am happy."

It has been a hectic week in north London following Pochettino's exit and then the appointment of Mourinho in the hotseat 11 hours later.

Guiding the team to two successive wins since his appointment, Lucas has opened up on what the experienced Portuguese boss has said to the team during his short time in N17.

"He said he believes in us, that he trusts in us and that we have a lot of quality," he added.

"He said we have everything to do our best, a very good structure and very good fans and that we just need to believe in it and be happy on the pitch and after about tactics you can see... simple."
