Lucas Moura for Gareth Bale and two Tottenham changes Jose Mourinho could make vs Man City

Tottenham have the chance to once again top the Premier League on Saturday evening when they host Man City in N17.

Moving into pole position following their late 1-0 win at West Brom last time out, Jose Mourinho's were only at the summit of the league table for a couple of hours with Leicester City leapfrogging them after collecting three points against Wolves.

As Brendan Rodgers' men don't play until Sunday away at Liverpool, Spurs can nudge ahead of them once again as only a single point separates them after eight matches.

The Lilywhites have registered wins over City in their last two games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and they will be intent on making it a hat-trick as they bid to stay in and around the top.

Mourinho will have to make at least one change to his name at the weekend as Matt Doherty, who has been getting a good run in the side of late, is unavailable after testing posting for Covid-19 while on international duty,

So what changes could the head coach make for the match? football.london takes a look.

Aurier for Doherty

Doherty's absence should mean a return to the side for Serge Aurier.

In and out of the team this campaign due to the arrival of the ex-Wolves man, the Ivorian has been very good when he has started for Spurs, notably in the 6-1 drubbing of Manchester United.

However, Japhet Tanganga will also be pushing for a spot in the side having just returned from injury as he demonstrated last season that he can operate as a right-back when required.

Aurier has not really done a lot wrong when he has played so far, thus meaning there's a very good chance he will be back in the XI.

Lucas for Bale

If indeed Aurier gets the nod then it could mean Mourinho has to change his plans in attack.

Starting Gareth Bale on the right ahead of the ex-Paris Saint-Germain man would give Spurs a very attacking flank and that could open up holes for City to exploit.

As Aurier is an extremely attack-minded full-back and can often be found out of position, starting Lucas Moura or Erik Lamela, providing he is back from injury, rather than Bale could be an option for Mourinho as they are both defensively sound and always get back to cover their full-back.

Having Bale to use from the bench wouldn't be a bad thing either if the head coach elects to start with Lucas or Lamela.

Lo Celso for Sissoko

Giovani Lo Celso has really given his boss something to think about following his excellent form during the international break.

Registering assists against Paraguay and Peru, the midfielder, who has rarely been fully fit after coming into the season injured, managed to play the full match against the latter.

The Argentine is really pushing for a starting spot now and Mourinho could opt to go for his dream midfield trio of Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Moussa Sissoko has been a regular in the Tottenham side of late so the boss has a big decision to make if Lo Celso comes in.
