MINNEAPOLIS -- Lucas Giolito pitched his third complete game of the season, leading the White Sox to a 4-0 victory Wednesday against the Twins.
Giolito held the Twins to three hits and struck out 12 as the Sox took two of three from the American League Central-leading Twins.
Giolito became the first Sox pitcher to strike out 10-plus batters in three consecutive starts since Chris Sale had a streak of eight from May 23 through June 30, 2015. Giolito is the first Sox right-hander to accomplish the feat since Edwin Jackson had three straight from Aug. 14-31, 2010.
Giolito, who has 36 strikeouts in his last three starts, had a two-run lead before he threw his first pitch. Jose Abreu and Matt Skole had RBI singles in the first to give the Sox a 2-0 lead.
Abreu added an RBI single in the third. He went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and one run.
The Sox have had a difficult time slowing down the Twins offense. Entering Wednesday, the Twins held an 8-4 lead in the season series and had outscored the Sox 89-39.
Giolito shut them down.
Jorge Polanco had a bunt single in the first and Nelson Cruz singled to left in the fourth. The Twins didn't get another hit until a one-out double to left by Jonathan Schoop in the eighth.
Giolito struck out Cruz to end the game, as the Sox went 3-4 on their seven-game road trip.
