CHICAGO _ Lucas Giolito continued his streak of strong pitching Saturday afternoon, allowing one run in the White Sox's 4-1 win against the Blue Jays. Giolito pitched all five innings of the rain-shortened game at Guaranteed Rate Field.
He struck out the side through a steady rain in the fifth to make the game official, and it was called final after a 3-hour delay. Giolito (5-1) allowed three hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
Blue Jays pitcher Ryan Feierabend, making his first major league appearance since 2014 and his first start since 2008, was greeted with a leadoff home run by Leury Garcia.
Yonder Alonso and Charlie Tilson added RBI singles in the second to give the Sox a 3-1 lead, and Alonso drove in another run with a single in the third.
After allowing 11 earned runs in his first three starts, Giolito has given up five in his last five. His ERA is at 3.35; it peaked at 6.19 after a 9-6 loss at Yankee Stadium on April 12. In his last five starts he has given up 17 hits while striking out 32 in 27 innings.
