Lucas Digne posts Everton injury update and explains training ground incident

Lucas Digne has posted a video message updating Everton supporters on his injury recovery.

The left-back has been out with an ankle issue since November, a problem he suffered in a training session in the build-up to the home match against Leeds United.

Carlo Ancelotti has since spoken of his surprise surrounding the France international's recovery and revealed that the defender will be back training with his teammates this month.

And the 27-year-old has now taken to social media to share his own update with supporters, explaining how he suffered his injury and his desire to be back on the pitch as soon as possible.

Digne says in his video message: "Hello everyone!

"In this video I'm going to take you behind the curtain of my re-education.

"First, how was I injured? During practice, I was about to cross the ball and I got tackled from behind.

"Unfortunately my ankle didn't hold out. The ligaments teared up, the ankle broke in two spots.

"It's less nice than being on the pitch but it's good to work hard to be back stronger. Then, to recover better, I've got two physio sessions a day with my personal physio.

"It's all part of the life of a football player. Thanks all for your support, see you soon!"

The caption along with the video made sure to thank Everton's medical staff and his own personal physios for helping him on the road to recovery.

Digne is understood to be closing in on a new contract with the Blues, which will reflect his ever-growing importance to the club.
