Lucas Digne has spoken about the special feeling that runs through Everton that has emotionally attached him to the club since he joined from Barcelona last summer.
At Barca's Camp Nou Stadium the words “Mes que un club” (more than a club) are spelled out in the actual seats but the France international believes the same applies for the Blues.
Speaking to St Domingo, the 'shirtzine' launched to coincide with the launch of Everton's 2019/20 away kit, Digne said: “When you sign for Everton, you feel the spirit.
“You feel it's about more than just the club. It's crazy really.
“We are working on building something here and I'm excited to push on.
“As far as history goes, it's always good to learn these things about the club.
“You hold onto what those memories mean. When we play away, we want to carry the feeling of our club with us.”
After helping Everton to five away wins in the Premier League last season – their best haul since 2015/16 – Digne is hoping for more success on the road next term with the Blues beginning the campaign against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
He said: “The atmosphere within the group, you feel as though you can fly.
“Knowing you have won three points for the club and made the fans happy, amazing.
“We are ready to take these steps together, travelling everywhere with the ambition to win.
“Of course it's great the Everton supporters think I'm magic (a reference to the terrace chant 'Our left-back is magic and his name is Lucas Digne) – and I can tell you that I think exactly the same of them.”
